HEVI-Shot® Dead Coyote End User Testing

Postby Webmaster » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:40 pm

Though that I would share Tyson's personal test results. He has posted these results at: http://buckingtheodds.com/forum/predato ... -25-yards/.

The letter submitted was:

> Good Morning Mr. Ronald Petty, I have tested your Hevi-Shot Dead
Coyote 3" T Shot and 3" 00 Buck at 25 and 45 yards with longer Rang
Tests to come soon. I was using my Benelli SuperNova with a
PatternMaster Long Range Ported Choke. I found the Hevi-Shot Dead
Coyote T Shot to be the Most Effective out of 6 different kinds of
Ammo for both the 25 and 45 yard tests. Hev-Shot Dead Coyote 00 Buck
came in Second Place. I will be using a Staggered lineup of Hevi-Shot
Dead Coyote T Shot and 00 Buck in my SuperNova whenever I am Predator
Hunting because Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote is Hands Down the Densest
Patterning Ammo I have found.
I thought you would like to see the Pattern Test so I have attached a
photo of the 25 yard result which yielded a 97.6190476% Lethality rate
within a 12" Radius! This figure came from the 41 Lethal hits out of
the 42 total hits at that distance which did not include any of the
hits outside the Target. The Full Lethality Rate was 82% for the 50
Shots on Target for the 3" Load and 100% Lethality within a 16" Radius
at 25 yards! This Test was done at 18 Degrees F. You can get the
full Report at:
http://buckingtheodds.com/forum/predato ... -25-yards/

His targets are attached in the forum and also featured on the HEVI-Shot® Dead Coyote Tech Center.

Thank you for the great feedback Tyson!

My Beretta Extrema2 likes the Kicks .680 "Gobbling Thunder" tube when shooting 3&1/2" Hevi-shot Dead Coyote T's. Every shotgun is different, so patterning on paper is important, and bore I.D. of your shotgun may require different choke tube also. I believe that nominal bore diameter of my Beretta is .731.

comparing your pie plate to tyson 3" pattern dead coyote,it looks like your missing 50% of your pattern if in fact your tested 3.5's.

Mr. Petersen,
A 50 percent pattern into nine inches at 50 yards is more than good in my opinion. My pattern struck a little high of course, but my 70 year old eyes can see that the holes are closer together in my 50 yard pattern than Tyson's pattern at 45 yards is showing.

Well depending on your POA and your POI I see some dead critters with that gun and load.
Thanks Mike

May I have some Dead Coyote to test out on Predators... Unbelieveable kinetic energy at extreme ranges with these shells. I have some unreal patterns at 60,70,& 75 yards. The choke does its job Trulock chokes matched with these shells are deadly !

I haven't been over here for awhile, but I am still sold on Hevi-shot T,s. I installed a Burris speed bead on my shotgun and adjusted for correct point of impact. Here are a couple of photo's.

My shotgun is a Beretta Extrema2. This may seem strange, but the 3" Hevi shot T,s seem to produce tighter patterns than the 3&1/2" ammo. I would also like to say that Hevi shot shoots to a different point of impact than lead fodder.
